Captozyme is a research and development stage biotechnology company focused on enzymes as therapeutics, in particular as dietary intercepts to prevent kidney stones.

Kidney stones are a painful and common disorder of the urinary tract. Each year, people make almost 3 million visits to health care providers and more than half a million people go to emergency rooms for kidney stone problems. Current treatments for kidney stones include surgery or EWSL (Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy).

We believe in maintaining health instead of treating disorders. Current preventive treatments often mean low-oxalate diets, which may be difficult to comply with. Our solution is an oxalate-degrading dietary intercept that will remove this stone-forming compound in the stomach and thus, reduce the risk of recurrent kidney stones.

Of all stones, approximately 75% are made up of Calcium and Oxalate.
